Laser Surgery
Laser (light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation) Surgery involves using an incredibly hot and focused beam of light in place of a traditional blade. This allows for cauterization of the incision as it is being made, resulting in a near-bloodless procedure. An additional benefit is the ability to "zap away" some small tumors such as sebaceous adenomas. At Northwest Veterinary Hospital, we recommend using laser surgery for the removal of some skin tumors, cat declaws, and more. We also use the method commonly for spays and neuters. If you are considering laser surgery for your pet, feel free to ask us about it!
