Ultrasound
Ultrasound is a valuable diagnostic tool when it comes to organ function. With this tool, we can evaluate the appearance of the abdominal organs and heart to find abnormalities that may not be obvious on xrays or bloodwork. Heart disease, tumors, intestinal disorders, free fluid, urinary stones, and more can be diagnosed by this method. Ultrasound may also be used for guided biopsies and cystocentesis (urine collection via needle).
The doctors at Northwest Veterinary hospital may use our ultrasound for diagnostics. However, when a full abdominal and cardiac ultrasound is needed we will schedule an appointment for a ultrasonography specialist to come to the clinic to see your pet with the doctor.
